We are a team of HR Consultants supporting the education sector by delivering generalist and specific HR support and advice. We provide a committed HR service on matters such as health & wellbeing, recruitment and selection, grievances, conduct & capability, performance and attendance management, organisational change and employee relations.

From small beginnings, to a client base of over 400 clients and growing, we are looking for talented HR Consultant to join the team here at FEPS.

This role is based at our fab Head Office at Calder Grove, Wakefield but with flexibility to work off site with your clients. We’re also super family-friendly and can offer part time or term time arrangements!

So, what’s the role?

We’re looking for a HR Consultant who will be able to confidently provide professional advice, support and training to both business/school clients and colleagues on a wide range of individual or collective HR matters, whilst observing agreed/recognised practices, standards, procedures and legal requirements.

Some of the main responsibilities of our HR Consultants will be:

  • To develop and maintain effective relationships with clients, colleagues, service areas and union representatives, demonstrating professional credibility.
  • Manage a varied caseload of HR cases, across a number of different clients/schools.
  • Offer accurate interpretation, advice, application and representation to clients on employment legislation, best practice and policies & procedures in relation to their own policies and procedures on a range of HR matters.
  • Attend school visits, where appropriate, to our clients to provide support and advice on HR concerns to assist in their resolution.
  • Undertake HR related assignments and projects as identified by senior colleagues that are appropriate to this role and the individual’s experience, this may include interim projects on client sites.
  • Support senior colleagues to retain client accounts through the development of strong relationships with the key decision makers and service users within client organisation.
  • Keep professionally up to date with HR management trends and initiatives locally and nationally, identifying how they may impact on local service requirements and delivery or be utilised to improve efficiency.
  • Draft template letters in relation to any informal/formal meetings relating to ER cases, attending meetings/hearings as deemed necessary.

What makes you the ideal candidate for us?

We feel really lucky to work here; we’re part of a super supportive team with a great working environment and can offer flexible hours and options to fit around any family commitments you might have. Because of this, we have a very happy and long standing team who are genuinely passionate about the job they do.

We’ll be looking for someone who shares our strong values and belief in our purpose ‘to create better futures for our children through innovative people solutions’.

Other skills which are really important to us are:

  • Experience of providing complex/generalist HR advice to Senior Leaders and working in a highly unionised environment.
  • Education or Public Sector experience is a real advantage, but not a deal breaker
  • Employee relations experience and a full understanding of current employment legislation.
  • Knowledge of current HR legislation and developing HR procedures and systems.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • The ability to demonstrate high levels of resilience when supporting schools with challenging ER issues.
  • A commitment to safeguarding children and young people.
  • Qualifications – Ideally degree level or CIPD Level 5 (or working towards) with a commitment to your own personal & professional development.

If this sounds like the role for you, and you want to be a part of a team who wants to shape the future of education through innovative solutions and services (and have loads of fun along the way) then we can’t wait to hear from you!
